The other Sicily: an experience in the heart of the Monti Iblei
Chaza, meaning ‘square’, is an agora overlooking the Iblei mountains, a stone’s throw from Chiaramonte Gulfi, in an authentic, beautiful, archaic rural world. Here, the houses of Arianna Occhipinti, an authentic and passionate winemaker, convey a new idea of Sicilian hospitality.
Authentic and welcoming, Chaza is the place for those who want to get lost and then find themselves, setting out to discover a Sicily far from the commonplace. With its flavors, colors, light and the vibrant soul of an ancient and inescapable land.
Chaza is a hospitality project that grew out of Arianna Occhipinti’s company in the heart of the Cerasuolo dei Vittoria DOCG. From the first hectare of land in contrada Fossa di Lupo, Arianna has built a world of tenacity and respect, vision and passion for her land. Her vineyards today extend to six other contrade. The latest is Santa Margherita, where Chaza stands.
An ancestral countryside that looks out like a terrace over the most authentic Sicily, contact with the land, with the air, with vineyards that produce real wine to be tasted on site.

Monti Iblei, the ancient village of Chiaramonte Gulfi, the Sicilian countryside and, not far away, the sea. Here is Chaza’s formula.
Chaza may be the ideal starting point for mapping southeastern Sicily. The Baroque splendors of Ragusa and Noto are a stone’s throw away. The sea at Marina di Ragusa is 40 kilometers away. And then nature, from Canalazzo Park to the countryside rich in olive, almond, pear and cherry trees. To understand this unique territory you only need to look out from Chiaramonte Gulfi, the balcony of Sicily, be transfigured by the landscape.
